I am so excited to finally be writing a post about the FIGS scrub company. I have seen this company all over Instagram and could not wait to get my hands on some of their products. All the reviews I have read say that their scrubs are the most comfortable things you could ever wear. However, in my future residency program, most people wear the hospital provided scrubs. So, I don’t know if I will have much of an opportunity to wear the scrubs. This is definitely not going to stop me from getting a pair in the future though. I can always use a good lounging outfit, right?
What I did need was a solution to my pocket problem. Now that I have matched into Pediatrics, I never wear my white coat. Kids inherently are skeptical around grownups, especially those wearing strange, long white coats. Therefore, we usually don’t wear them to help the kids be more at ease. The dilemma comes when I need the extra pocket space that a white coat would provide. Where am I going to keep my stash of colored pens and snacks? So, when I saw this vest, I knew it was the perfect solution!
Recently, I have developed a new-found obsession with vests. I love wearing them to make even an outfit of a t-shirt and jeans look more put together. Especially, with the warmer seasons coming, a vest is more lightweight than a jacket. The Micro-fill super chill vest from FIGS is so perfect! Not only is it crazy lightweight, but it has so many pockets, I still don’t think I have found them all yet. Now, I am able to carry around my papers, pens, stethoscope, snacks, and other daily essentials, without having to wear my white coat. This is ideal on inpatient wards when you are often running all over the hospital.
This vest is not just perfect for clinical rotations, but also for those long study days. Imagine having places to keep everything close at hand for a marathon library study session. Plus, it will help keep you a bit warmer when the library feels like the North Pole, even in the middle of August.
Not only does FIGS have amazing products, but they also are a business with a purpose. For every pair of scrubs sold, they give a pair to a healthcare provider in need. They donate these scrubs to medical professionals in areas of the world where they might not have the resources to buy scrubs for themselves. That is what they mean by Threads for Threads. What a way to pay it forward!
